In the 2025 Christmas season, global high-end skincare brand La Mer launched its Christmas Miracle Castle Collection gift box series, interpreting festive luxury aesthetics through a visual language of “deep-sea blue + gilded snowflakes.” The brand wanted to build on its signature marine aesthetics while incorporating traditional Chinese cultural elements to create a limited-edition custom face cream gift box that combined Eastern charm with international luxury. The project covered individual face cream square boxes, complete insert sets, hot foil stamping, and an overall packaging solution.
The global packaging printing market is projected to reach US$549.48 billion by 2026, with a CAGR of 9.2%, and the high-end cosmetics and luxury packaging segments are growing especially strongly. Under this trend, brand demand for customized, high-end packaging continues to rise.

Inspired by Song Dynasty aesthetics, the design team combined the brand’s signature “deep-sea blue” with a black-and-gold color system. The outer box uses 1,500gsm double grey board laminated with 120gsm tactile specialty paper. Matte lamination gives the surface a soft, warm feel, while spot hot foil stamping on the brand logo achieves a visual effect of “gold without glare, luxury without vulgarity.” According to a 2026 industry report by Packaging World magazine, in the high-end gift packaging sector, the share of combined matte and hot foil stamping processes has risen from 35% in 2023 to 58%, with a CAGR of over 25%.
Inside the gift box, a custom EVA flocked insert set for individual face cream square boxes fits precisely around the cream jar contours, balancing display appeal and cushioning protection. The insert stores the cream jar and beauty spatula in separate compartments, and every jar recess is precisely matched through 3D modeling to ensure zero movement during transport.

The core process highlight of this case is the combined application of hot foil stamping and reverse embossing. The stamping temperature is precisely controlled at 180–200°C to ensure the gold foil adheres firmly to the tactile paper surface with sharp, flat edges. Unlike traditional positive embossing, reverse embossing makes the pattern recess into the back of the paper and form a three-dimensional groove on the front. The gold foil sits inside the groove, concentrating reflection, greatly increasing imitation difficulty, and offering significantly better wear resistance than raised processes.
For local detail treatment, the team used a triple combination of “reverse embossing + spot UV + high-relief embossed pattern.” Chinese-style auspicious cloud motifs and wave patterns are presented with a delicate relief texture. Testing shows that the reverse embossed structure reduces damage rates by about 15%–20% during cross-border transport stacking, making it especially suitable for direct-to-consumer e-commerce shipping scenarios.

To meet the brand’s need for small-batch limited releases, we provide a one-stop packaging solution from design and sampling to mass production. In the early stage of the project, three rounds of free samples are provided, with a professional team offering one-on-one support to ensure the samples and mass production results are highly consistent. The application of digital printing technology means small-batch orders do not need to bear the fixed costs of traditional cutting dies and printing plates, keeping unit costs within the RMB 25–60 range.
